Easy DIY tips for installing a roof tarp

Are you looking for a cheap and effective way to temporary fix your roof after a storm or a hurricane? If your answer to this question is yes, then roof tarp could be the best solution for your problem, even if you live in areas such as Chicago, Niles, Morton Grove, Skokie, or Lincolnwood.

1. DIY or hire a professional?
If you choose to do this, you can hire a professional to do this job for you, but if you do not have the money necessary for doing this, you can also do it yourself. Installing a tarp on your roof is not a difficult job if you pay attention to all the steps involved in this process.

2. Get the required materials
The first step would be to make sure that you have the required materials and tools for the job. The materials and tools that you need are a ladder, utility knife, hammer, screws and nails, wooden studs, tarp, and a measuring tape. After making sure that you have all of these, you should identify the damaged area of the roof.

3. Do the measurings
Next, you should measure and cut the tarp, but keep in mind that the measuring should be done from the bottom of the roof to the peak. When doing this, make sure to leave 4 feet of tarp on both ends. Then cut the wooden studs and wrap them in tarp at both of its ends. Fix the tarp to the wooden studs using nails, and then take another board and nail it on top of the first one.

4. Final steps
After that, you should stretch the tarp onto the roof, and nail it securely at both ends by nailing the wooden studs attached to it to the boards of the roof. At last, you should fix the sides of the tarp to the roof by placing wood boards on them and nail them to the roof.
